The specific light source, position, and type of light can substantial affect a grow and yield. Unfortunately, most grows that start with bad lights normally end with bad lights yielding bad results.

An affordable quality light source such as the VIPARSPECTRA 300W LED Grow Light can alleviate these problems.

A quick background on LED lights and a comparison to other grow lights are essential to understanding why this product is best for most growers. CFL lights are the easiest most affordable method but do not create sufficient light for massive yielding quality grows.

VIPARSPECTRA V300 LED Grow Light Review

VIPARSPECTRA UL Certified 300W LED Grow Light, with Daisy Chain, Full Spectrum Plant Growing Lights for Indoor Plants Veg and Flower

The insufficient yields are due to lack of light penetration throughout the light and the simple fact that they are not as bright as the other lights offered. CFL grows are more suited for small one plant grows for a single person.

HPS lights are great for massive indoor grows providing sufficient lumens and light penetration. Unfortunately, these lights are expensive to run and produce a lot of heat. These grows are more suited for massive scale industrial grows.

LED lights such as the VIPARSPECTRA Reflector Series 300W are more on par with HPS lights without the hassle of size, expensive electric bills, and heat. LED lights can easily be used for a closest grow or a massive grow without compromising bud quality.

In particular, the VIPARSPECTRA Reflector Series 300W light is compact, light and efficient meaning it can be used by any grower for all grows. The versatility alone is a great reason to choose VIPARSPECTRA.

In addition to it’s LED growing power and compact size other features are included to set the light apart from its competitors. The first and one of the most technical features offered is the PAR/Lumen ratios. Engineering is used to keep the LED output of high lumens, but not excessive because PAR is also important to plant growth.

The ratios are set so that the size of the bulbs are substantial to the lumens being put out, this minimizes plant stretching and allows the plant to grow denser. LED lights including the VIPARSPECTRA produce a full spectrum of light, making it perfect for vegetative and flower stages. This benefits the buds by producing better flavors, colours, and aromas.

The panel provided 12 bands of light spectrum from 440 to 730nm which is optimal for plant photosynthesis. As you can see from the graph it leans toward the blue spectrum which is best during the vegetative stage of growth.

The LED does seem to favour the blue and white spectrum of light, but this is not very significant. It will affect the plants flowering stage, which many consider to be the most important stage.

With a couple years of growing experience under my belt, the VIPARSPECTRA LED light fails to disappoint. Using several different lights throughout the years, it seems like these LEDS especially are the greatest, specifically for small closet gardens.

With so much good it’s hard to decide where to start, but the packaging was the first encounter with the light and even that was outstanding. It comes in a perfectly sized boxed with substantial padding, that could easily be used for storage for when the light is out of commission.

The straightforward design of the light is also a plus with the front being the lights and the back being a power plug, the simpler the better with anything in a grow space.

Without a doubt, this light saves on electricity. The bill has dropped noticeably since using the HPS lighting systems, but the growing results remain the same and even better in some cases.

This is beneficial because it is important to have an efficient grow when indoors so that you can grow with little hassle similar to outdoors and not affect the environment negatively by doing something natural.

Expanding your indoor garden is relatively easy by adding additional fixtures by daisy chaining them together. No special cables are needed. Just plug the power cable from one unit into the other.

The par/lumen ratio ensures no excessive light is being used allowing for lower temperatures and a more efficient grow.

Unfortunately, the bright LED light produced by the VIPARSPECTRA does not seem very safe for eyes, and even looking at the light produced can affect vision.

The effect the lights have on vision are not extremely detrimental but will have you seeing green for a few seconds or minutes afterward depending on the length of exposure.

The bright light produced is great for plants, but can be detrimental to eyesight. This can pose a problem for involved growers who like to check their plants daily or even up to 3-4 times a day.

Looking directly into the light is highly not recommended and even looking at the light produced by the LED’s can hurt eyes and have an effect where vision is slightly green for seconds or minutes.

It is recommended to purchase LED protective glasses even if you don’t check your plants every day.

Quality

With so much LED lights to choose from, the VIPARSPECTRA lights stand out because of their amazing performance, efficiency, and simplicity. It’s always great to obtain HPS equivalents, but at a much more efficient level. The use of the LED’s provides noticeable positive differences in the plants, without ballasts and grand ventilation.

The ability to use one light source throughout an entire grow and still produce substantial growth and yield are outstanding. This also done at an efficiency larger grows normally don’t see with their reputation of being expensive and troublesome to run.

The specifically engineered PAR/lumen ratio is a great feature that the manufacturer took into consideration to get the most out of the grow, without wasting light.

It shows that the manufacturer specializes in grow lights and is not just using high lumens to draw in customers or port other lights for different uses into the growing market. Another great feature of the LED is the 5watt LED chips. This is an upgrade from 3 watt to 5 watt LED chips.

Final Thoughts

After six months of use on a two plant grow this light is very efficient. I used a 20 hour on/off cycle for the seedling and vegetative stages and the plant grew at the same pace as any grow, but much denser with tighter nodes.

During flower the light still produced good results but near the end some light penetration issues occurred.

This was mostly due to the very large plants and only happened at the end of the flowering stage close to harvest. Overall this light exceeding expections, providing a great yield with a fraction of the cost using HPS.
